Emotions are conscious mental reactions such as anger or fear. Our beloved prophet (SAW) warned people and said that when they come to you and you give them a verdict, make sure you don’t fall into their emotions. Quran is actually very concerned about the emotions, feelings and sadness of the people. As Allah SWT mentioned in Quran which tells us that sometimes our own emotions, feelings are actually the sizeable endangerment to ourselves. Allah SWT says in Quran that the one who fears from standing In front of his creator and was able to stop self from running into the feelings like they stopped their impulse from dictating all their actions.

We have a feeling we just want to act onto it. Prophet (peace be upon him)instructed that the first warning is when you give anyone their judgment don’t make your judgments bend to their feelings. So don’t fall in their whims. They will put you into trials regarding what something Allah has revealed to you don’t be in the false trap of emotions. They will sometimes start testing you.

Surah Nisa tell us that if one can stay away from these kindsof major sins then the smaller ones Allah will overlook. But we do smaller good deeds to hold on to the major sins! How come do we think that doing these smaller good deeds Allah will overlook our big sins?

It is as if we decide that what part of word of almighty Allah we are going to follow. No! My dear brothers and sisters, that’s not how the religion works, if you and I follow our emotions, we will fall into a false trap that will continue to bind us to a tremendous pressure of heart break, anxiety disorders, and this actually redefines our entire relationship to Allah.

Quran mentions, again and again, that we must make sure not to follow our emotions as we sometimes get negative feedback and sulk in sadness, grief and live in anxiety. Emotions are highly conditional and uncontrolled automatic reactions and have power until one becomes fully aware of ones’ inner circumstances. Emotional will rule over our reason and logic and following themwould mean resisting or accepting things that might not be the best things to do and one can certainly choose to respond from clarity and intelligence instead of rushing upon the emotions.

We have to understand that feelings are temporary andone can let them go, learn from thembut they don’t have to define our actions wholly.

You want to be happy- Don’t follow your emotions, don’t buy into what the world tells you is happiness and rather do what’s right -Julie Duncan
