Director Agriculture inspects Industrial Estate Lassipora Pulwama

SRINAGAR: A team of enforcement officers led by the Director of Agriculture Kashmir, Chowdhury Mohammad Iqbal today inspected Industrial Estate Lassipora Pulwama and 70 bags (35.8) of subsidized urea meant for agriculture purposes were seized. The fertilizer was reportedly being used for Industrial purposes.

Speaking on the occasion, the Director of Agriculture said that today a team from the enforcement wing of the department inspected the premises of one A.Z shuttering panels, plywood manufacturing unit, and other plywood units and found that a huge quantity of subsidized urea fertilizer was being used by these units (in violation of Insecticide act 1968 and Rules 1971) thereunder for industrial purpose.

Director said that the department is vigorously working to ensure that the subsidized fertilizer reaches only the farming community of the region. He said strict action according to law shall be initiated against those involved in the black marketing of fertilizers, Industrial use of subsidized fertilizer, and unauthorized sale of fertilizers.

The Director said that the department has constituted district law enforcement teams for every district for maintaining smooth supply, storage, and distribution of different kinds of fertilizers among the farmers.
