Advisor Bhatnagar chairs 54th AGM, 69th BoDs meet of JKAIDCL

SRINAGAR: Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar, today chaired the 54th Annual General Meeting (AGM) and 69th Board of Directors (BoDs) meeting of J&K Agro Industries Development Corporation Limited (JKAIDCK) at Civil Secretariat here.

The meeting was attended by the Principal Secretary of the Public Works Department, Shailendra Kumar; Commissioner Secretary of Industries and Commerce, Vikramjit Singh; Managing Director, JKAIDCL, Dr. Arun Kumar Manhas; Director General Codes, CGM NABARD, Director of Agriculture, Jammu/Kashmir, Director Horticulture, Jammu/Kashmir, Director Animal Husbandry, Jammu/Kashmir, representative of the department of Agri Cooperative Farmers Welfare, GoI and other concerned officers both in person and through video conferencing.

While chairing the AGM, Advisor Bhatnagar impressed upon the management of the corporation to take steps for enhancing and diversifying the business of the corporation. He asked them to prepare a ‘Business Management Model’ of all units of the corporation for their effective utilization and development.

During the AGM, the BoDs approved the Director Report and Annual Accounts for the financial year 2021-22 for its onward submission.

Meanwhile, in the BoDs meeting, the Board took some significant decisions for improving the overall functioning and performance of the corporation. Various critical matters concerning the organization’s operations were also discussed in detail during the BoDs meeting. The Board also held a robust discussion on the corporation’s business activities and strategies and also deliberated om future plans for the Corporation to make it profit-centric.

Speaking during the meeting, Advisor Bhatnagar emphasized on the corporation’s commitment to bolstering the agricultural infrastructure in the region. He highlighted the significant strides made in the development of vital agricultural facilities and urged for further collaborative efforts to enhance agricultural productivity and ensure farmers’ welfare.

The Advisor stressed upon the management of corporations to implement key innovative technology-driven solutions to boost agricultural efficiency, identify investment opportunities to attract private sector participation and enhance the reach of agricultural services to remote areas. He encouraged the Corporation to continue its efforts towards improving the livelihoods of farmers and promoting the growth of the agro-based economy in Jammu and Kashmir.

Advisor Bhatnagar also urged upon the management of the corporation to explore new opportunities for growth and diversification to further strengthen the agro-based economy of Jammu and Kashmir. He reaffirmed the corporation’s mission to empower farmers, increase their income, and contribute to the overall economic growth of the region.

During the meeting, the BoDs asked the management of the corporation to prepare models for the augmentation of various business units of the corporation.

Managing Director, JKAIDCL, Dr. Arun Kumar Manhas, on the occasion gave a detailed presentation on the performance of the corporation. He informed the BoDs that the corporation completed four big projects like 60 MT ripening chamber at Lal Mandi Srinagar, automation and upgradation of the food processing division Khunmoh Srinagar, 320 MT cold storage unit at Chenani Udhampur, and establishment of a petrol pump at Khunmoh Srinagar at the cumulative cost of Rs. 601.84 lacs.

Dr. Manhas also informed the Board that JKAIDCL has completed the statutory Audit up to the financial year 2021-22 while the statutory audit of the financial year 2022-23 is going on, making it the first corporation of Jammu and Kashmir to do so.
