Srinagar: Police in Baramulla have solved a burglary case by arresting an accused person and recovered stolen cash from his possession, police spokesman informed.

He said acting on a complaint of theft of ₹43000 at a JK Bank Khidmat Centre at Duslipora Singhpora Pattan, police during investigations rounded up one Rameez Ahmad Naikoo, son of Ghulam Mohammad Naikoo of Ashmuji Kulgam. During questioning, the person confessed his involvement in theft and on his disclosure, stolen cash of ₹41000 was recovered from his possession, police said.

He was arrested and shifted to the police station where he remains in custody.

Meanwhile, police also said that it has arrested an extortionist — Nadeem Ahmad Mir, son of Nazir Ahmad Mir, resident of Janbazpora Baramulla — for demanding money for regulatory authorities in order to carry out illegal extraction and transportation of minerals in Baramulla.
