MANASBAL (GANDERBAL): The picturesque valley of Manasbal witnessed the grand inauguration of the Manasbal Festival-2023, as the Secretary of Tourism, Dr Syed Abid Rasheed, Shah, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to boost tourism in the region.

The festival aims to showcase the mesmerizing beauty of Manasbal and attract both national and international tourists to this magnificent destination.

Speaking at the event, Secretary of Tourism, Dr Syed Abid Rasheed Shah, highlighted the significance of the Manasbal Festival in promoting tourism in the region. He emphasized that this unique festival is a stepping stone towards projecting Manasbal as a prime tourist spot.

He said that the department is committed to unveiling the hidden gems of Jammu & Kashmir to the world, and the Manasbal Festival plays a pivotal role in achieving this goal. “With its enthralling landscape and abundant water sports opportunities, Manasbal is becoming increasingly popular among tourists. The festival has seen a massive influx of water sports enthusiasts from across India, further contributing to the region’s growth in tourism.”

Director Tourism Kashmir, Raja Yaqoob Farooq, Deputy Directors Tourism Kashmir, Chief Executive Officer, Wullar-Manasbal Development Authority, and other concerned accompanied the Secretary during his visit.

He revealed that the Tourism Department’s ambitious plan for the fiscal year includes targeting 300 new destinations, and Manasbal is a proud addition to this list.

Dr Syed Abid Rasheed Shah also highlighted the strategic location of Manasbal on the axis between Sonamarg and Baltal, making it potentially attractive to the pilgrims visiting the revered Amarnath Cave Shrine. With its scenic landscapes and tranquil environment, Manasbal offers a serene retreat for visitors.

During the inauguration, Secretary Tourism declared open a plethora of water sports activities, setting the stage for an adrenaline-filled extravaganza. Participants from different states exhibited their skills, showcasing the diversity of talent and passion for water sports in India.

On the occasion, Secretary also presented certificates of participation among water sports players.
