2 persons arrested with banned forest herb in Tangmarg

Srinagar: Police have arrested two persons and recovered illegally procured banned forest herbs (Sheetkhar) from their possession, officials informed Thursday.

They said at a checkpoint established at Drung Tangmarg, police intercepted two persons — Zubair Ahmad Malik, son of Abdul Majeed Malik of Mashkhud, and Adil Ahmad Khan, son of Ghulam Mohammad Khan of Ganiwani, and recovered 13 kgs of banned herbs (Sheetkhar) from their possession.  They have been arrested and a case registered for further investigation, police said.

Meanwhile in Handwara, three drug peddlers were arrested and contraband substance recovered from their possession.

The arrested peddlers were identified as Aijaz Ahmad Teli, son of Ghulam Qadir of Turkpora; Umar Ahmed Lone, son of Imtiyaz Ahmad of Kultoora, and Mudasir Ahmad Lone, son of Mohammad Maqbool of Udipora.
