PULWAMA/BUDGAM: The Director of Agriculture Kashmir, Chowdhary Mohammad Iqbal, today visited Tahab Pulwama and inspected the hi-tech poly house established under CAPEX, 2022-23 at Naira Tahab Pulwama.
Speaking on the occasion, the Director of Agriculture said that under the Holistic Agriculture Development Program (HADP) a special project has been approved for the promotion of vertical expansion of vegetable Cultivation. He said the scope for horizontal expansion is decreasing day by day, and under such circumstances, farmers should focus on vertical expansion of vegetable Cultivation.
He said to realize this concept on the ground, the Department of Agriculture has established hi-tech poly houses in all the ten districts of Kashmir.
The Director said that the department is having a number of success stories with the introduction of hi-tech polyhouse technology and the department is endeavoring to replicate these success stories in all the areas of the Kashmir division.
Director Agriculture said that our climatic conditions are our strength so far as the agro-climatic suitability for vegetable Cultivation is concerned. He said the department is working to explore these suitable agro-climatic conditions to achieve the socio-economic transformation of the concerned farming community.
The Director of Agriculture also visited Banhar Wathoora Budgam and took stock of different agricultural activities.
While interacting with the farmers, he said amid tomato shortages in many parts of the country we are having abundant quantities of different types of vegetables from Kashmir that are even sent to different parts of the country.
He said that a sufficient quantity of different vegetables including tomatoes would be available in markets in the coming days.
