Srinagar: Police in Kulgam have arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession, police spokesman informed Tuesday.
He said at a checkpoint on NHW-44 near Nippora crossing, police intercepted a vehicle (JK01M-8715) driven by one Nasir Ahmad Mir, son of Abdul Rashid Mir, resident of Trapoo Achabal, Anantnag.
During search of the vehicle, police recovered 10 kgs of poppy straw-like contraband substance and cash of Rs 50,000 – believed to be the proceeds of narcotics. Mir has been arrested and a case registered for further investigation, police said.
