Srinagar: Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) J&K, Raj Kumar, Thursday claimed to have busted an inter-State narco smuggling racket by arresting two Punjab residents along with 35 poppy straw packets.
“Acting on specific information, we intercepted a vehicle (PB-08 CP 0517) at Shampora, Qazigund. Two persons — Amandeep Singh and Manohar Singh — both residents of Gurdaspur, Punjab, were arrested along with 35 packets of poppy straw. The vehicle has been seized as well,” the SSP said.
He said more forward and backward links of the case are being investigated and more arrests are likely.
Meanwhile, a police party intercepted a vehicle (DL8CAW-6316) driven by one Rouf Ahmad Wani, son of Nazir Ahmad Wani of Roshanabad Pinjoora, at Pinjoora Crossing, and recovered 105 grams of cannabis-like substance from his possession. Wani has been arrested and his vehicle seized, while a case under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Kunzer, police said.
