Srinagar: Police on Tuesday said it has arrested three drug smugglers in Baramulla and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
Sharing details, police said the house of one Ghulam Mohammad Tantray, son of Habibullah Tantray, resident of Mulgam Kunzer, was raided and 13 Kgs of poppy straw-like substance was recovered from there. Tantray has been arrested.
Similarly, a police party during patrolling at Khawajabagh Baramulla intercepted a suspicious person and recovered 150 grams of a cannabis-like substance recovered from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to a police station where he remains in custody.
At a checkpoint at Vizer Wagoora, police intercepted a load carrier (JK05B-1259) driven by one Ishfaq Ahmad Kaloo, son of Nazir Ahmad Kaloo of Sher Colony Sopore. During the search, 9.5 Kg of poppy straw-like substance was recovered from his possession. He has been arrested and the vehicle seized.
Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in respective police stations and further investigation has been initiated.
