Srinagar: Police have arrested a drug peddler in Anantnag and recovered contraband substance from his possession, officials informed Monday.
They said police intercepted a Tata Mobile vehicle (JK21B-0743) driven by Sham Lal, son of Bahadur Ram, resident of Saror Jammu, at a checkpoint at Brackpora Anantnag. During the search, 25.770 Kgs of poppy straw-like substance was recovered from the said vehicle.
The driver has been arrested and the vehicle seized, while a case under relevant sections of law has been registered and investigation initiated, police said.
