Srinagar: Police have arrested six drug peddlers in Baramulla and Budgam and recovered contraband substance and cash from their possession, officials informed Wednesday.
They said at Main Market Sheeri, police arrested two-drug peddlers — Bilal Ahmad Dar, son of Ghulam Rasool Dar; and Parvaiz Ahmad Dar, son of Ghulam Mohi Ud Din Dar, both residents of Heewan Sheeri. During the search, 103 grams of cannabis and cash amounting ₹32,250 was recovered from their possession.
At Nowpora Market Kreeri, two drug peddlers — Nasir Ahmad Wani, son of Ghulam Mohammad Wani of Tapper, and Mohammad Amir Mir, son of Abdul Ahad Mir of Hail Jageer Kreeri, were arrested and 26 grams of cannabis was recovered from their possession.
In Budgam, at Choon Crossing, one Mushtaq Ahmad Dar alias Nik Khan, son of Ghulam Qadir Dar of Razwan Budgam, was arrested and 7 grams of heroin and 20 grams of cannabis recovered from his possession, police said.
In the Ichigam area of Budgam, one Ghulam Mustafa Rather, son of Mohammad Abdullah Rather of Ichigam was arrested after five Kgs of poppy straw was recovered from his possession.
Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and investigations have been initiated, police said.
