3 drug smugglers booked under PIT NDPS Act, as many under PSA in Baramulla

Srinagar: Police in Baramulla have booked three “notorious” drug smugglers under PIT NDPS Act, while three other persons were also booked under PSA for anti-national activities.

The three “notorious” drug smugglers identified as Ghulam Mohammad Dar, son of Abdul Rehman Dar of Mirgund Pattan; Manzoor Ahmad Dar, son of Assadullah Dar of Singhpora Pattan; and Mohammad Yaqoob Dar, son of Ghulam Rasool Dar of Renji Pattan, have been booked under PIT NDPS Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority and subsequently lodged in Central Jail Kot-Balwal Jammu, police spokesperson informed in a statement here.

He said many cases are registered against these drug smugglers and they were involved in promoting drug trade by supplying drugs to local youth of Mirgund, Singhpora, Pattan, Renji and other areas of District Baramulla.

Police also said three persons — Mohammad Ashraf Mir, son of Assadullah Mir of Wussan Pattan; Mohammad Yaseen Bhat, son of Ghulam Mohi-udin, resident of Tapper Pattan; and Wasid Ashraf Sofi, son of Mohammad Ashraf Sofi of Watergam Wagoora — involved in “anti-national activities” have been detained under Public Safety Act (PSA) after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent Authority and subsequently lodged in District Jail Udhampur, Central Jail Kot-Balwal Jammu and District Jail Kathua respectively.
