Kulgam: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee Chief Vikar Rasool Wani on Sunday said that Congress played a decisive role in the overall development of the country and always worked towards strengthening every section of the people with great conviction and commitment, besides respecting their urges and aspirations, but the BJP Govt at Centre failed them on all fronts.

“People in the country in general J&K in particular are feeling demoralized and dismayed given the betrayals and deceitful policies of BJP,” said Wani.

He made these comments while addressing an impressive public gathering at Ahmad Abad in the D.H.Pora area of South Kashmir in which Senior Party leaders of JKPCC and Kulgam DCC participated. Wani was given an overwhelming ovation by the gathering.

Addressing the gathering Vikar Rasool Wani asserted that Congress is committed to working towards strengthening the people while having played a decisive role in the overall development of the country and empowerment of people without any discrimination, assuring that there will be no compromise on people’s rights.

He said that Congress will continue to fight for safeguarding the just rights of the people and ensure the deliverance of justice. “People are feeling victimized and harassed by the dictatorial rule of the BJP. “

Wani took the opportunity of the public meeting to assure the people of J&K that Congress shall continue to work vigorously to bring back their dignity and honor, which have been snatched aiming to complete BJP’s political agenda and for the lust of power.

Taking a dig at BJP Govt for creating hurdles in the restoration of the democratic process in J&K, JKPCC Chief said that this is for the first time in Indian history that a full-fledged princely state was downgraded and divided into two UTs with a stroke of a pen, which is a humiliation and disrespect to people’s aspirations, but the Congress shall continue to fight for the restoration of democratic setup and statehood to J&K.

Wani also expressed serious concern over the issues confronting people on account of a shortage of electricity, poor supply of ration, lack of development, and extreme joblessness and emphasized the LG Govt to take cognizance of the people’s issues for their resolution of the right earnest. Wani also sought effective measures to improve electricity and supply of essentials, on a priority basis.

Senior Congress Leaders Gh. Nabi Monga (Ex. MLC), Mohd Anwar Bhat while speaking on the occasion urged the people to support the Congress party in its endeavors to ensure that the real issues confronting J&K are addressed. They also expressed gratitude to people for their overwhelming participation in the public meeting.

DDC Imtiyaz Ahmad Khanday, DCC President Pulwama Fayaz Ahmad Dar, Amanullah Mantoo, PCC Secretaries Shaheena Neda, Abdul Rashid Lone, Bashir Ahmad Khan, Sajad Ahmad Wani, Dr. Audil Mir, Firdous Wani, Showket Amad others were present.
