Srinagar: Police in Baramulla have arrested two drug peddlers and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
Police spokesman informed that at a checkpoint established at Jheel Bridge Pattan, police arrested a drug peddler identified as Ghulam Hussain Ganie, son of Mohammad Hatim, resident of Kripalpora Payeen, and recovered 70 grams of cannabis powder from his possession.
At Delina Baramulla, a Sumo cab (JK05B-0111) driven by Raakib Bashir Hurrah, son of Bashir Ahmad Hurrah of Kanispora Baramulla, was intercepted and 12 grams of heroin recovered from his possession. He has been arrested and the vehicle seized, police said, adding both the arrested drug peddlers have been shifted to respective police stations where they remain in custody.
Cases under relevant sections of the law have been registered and investigations initiated, police said.
