Srinagar: Police in Kulgam have arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession, officials informed Monday.
They said a police party intercepted a vehicle (JK03E-1870) driven by Tariq Ahmad Ganie, son of Mohammad Ahsan Ganie of Nussu, Badragund, at a checkpoint at Levdoora Crossing.
During the search, 2.5 kgs of poppy straw was recovered from his possession. He has been arrested and the vehicle seized while a case under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Qazigund for further investigation, police said.
