Srinagar: Police in Budgam Tuesday arrested a person for his alleged involvement in sexually harassing a young girl, police spokesman informed.
Police said the victim girl had approached Soibug Police Post on May 25 with a written complaint detailing her harassment.
According to the victim’s statement, she left for her coaching classes in Budgam and had accepted a lift from an unknown vehicle near Soibugh along her journey. However, during the course of the trip, the driver subjected her to sexual harassment, following which she managed to escape, leaving behind her mobile phone and school bag inside the vehicle.
Taking cognizance of the matter, police started investigations, and zeroed in on the accused identified as Saqib Ahmad Dar, a resident of Narkara Budgam. He was apprehended and the vehicle (JK01N 5711) involved in the incident, was also seized, police said, adding further investigations in the case are on.
