Srinagar: Police have arrested three drug peddlers and recovered contraband substances and cash from their possession, police spokesman informed Tuesday.

A police party during patrolling at Karhama Kunzer, arrested a “wanted drug smuggler” Mansoor Ahmad Wani, son of Ghulam Mohammad of Kharpora Dewpora. During his search, 110 grams of cannabis was recovered from his possession, and subsequently cash of ₹ 1,30,900, the “proceeds of narcotic crime” was also recovered from his residential house on his disclosure, spokesman said.

He said in Kulgam during patrolling at Okey crossing, police arrested one Hilal Ahmad Mir, son of Abdul Rashid Mir of Okey and recovered 103 grams of cannabis from his possession. 

In Shopian, during investigation of case (FIR No. 41/2023) of Police Station Zainapora, the arrested accused drug-peddler Shahid Afridi Shah disclosed that one Sheeraz Ahmad Bhat, son of Abdul Razaq Bhat of Melhura was actually supplying contraband substances to him, police said, adding that subsequently police raided Bhat’s house and recovered 1.2 Kgs of cannabis powder, three steel tubs, a clay hearth (‘chulha’) and a mixer grinder. He has been arrested and shifted to a police station where he remains in custody.

Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations in all these instances and investigations initiated, police said.
