Srinagar: Police have arrested two drug peddlers in Baramulla and Ganderbal and recovered contraband substance from his possession, officials informed Friday.
They said at Salam Deedar Baramulla, police intercepted one Mohammad Ramzan Mir, son of Ghulam Mohammad Mir, resident of Kalantra Payeen and recovered seven grams of brown sugar and 70 grams of cannabis-like substance from his possession. He was arrested and shifted to the police station.
In Ganderbal, one Fida Hussain Quraishi, son of Late Mohammad Younis of Chanthan Lar, was arrested at Goriwan Lar after psychotropic substances were recovered from his possession.
Meanwhile, one Shams-ud Din Sheikh, son of Mohammad Abdullah resident of Watlar Ganderbal, was booked for cultivating poppy/opium plants in his fields. A special police team led by SHO Lar alongwith 1st Class Magistrate Lar recovered green bulbs of poppy and seized them on the spot, police spokesman said.
He said cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at Police Station Lar and further investigation has been initiated.
