3 drug-peddlers arrested with contraband substances

Srinagar: Police have arrested three drug-peddlers in Baramulla and Anantnag and recovered contraband substances from their possession, officials informed Wednesday.

They said in Baramulla, police intercepted a vehicle (JK04E-9527) near Tapper Pattan and recovered 22 grams of heroin-like substance from possession of one Farooq Ahmad Dar, son of Ghulam Hassan Dar, resident of Gojra Jageer Budgam, travelling in the vehicle. Dar was arrested and the vehicle seized, police said.

At Gantamulla, police recovered five grams of brown sugar like substance and 60 tablets of SpasmoProxyvon from the possession of one Firdous Ahmad Sheikh, son of Abdul Jabbar Sheikh of Dachina Mohura. He was also arrested

At Main Chowk Logripora Aishmuqam in Anantnag, police arrested a drug-peddler identified as Mohammad Yousuf Chopan, son of Mohammad Rajab Chopan of Reshkubal along with about 12 kgs of cannabis powder.

Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and further investigation has been initiated, police said.
