Srinagar Admin conducts inspection of several markets in Shahr-e-Khaas

SRINAGAR: On the directions of the Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad, the team of the Food Safety Department today conducted a special drive in various markets of Shahr-e-Khaas in Srinagar City and SIDCO Industrial estate Khanmouh, to check the quality food items being manufactured/sold to consumers.

A team of Officers headed by Assistant Commissioner Food Safety Designated Officer under FSSA Srinagar, Yameen ul Nabi carried out a surprise market checking in several areas of the City and lifted samples of different food items including Desi Ghee, Packed Drinking water. Packed milk and Ready to Eat Food items from across City for analytical purposes

The team also attended to the complaints received against a restaurant in the District.

On the occasion, the Market Checking Team warned the erring Food Business Operators not to indulge in violations of Food Safety Regulations and insanitary conditions which are against public health failing which a hefty compound will be imposed upon them in the future, which can even lead to the closure of the facility.

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar has impressed upon all food business operators not to indulge in operating Food Business without proper Licence/Registration under Food Safety and Standards Act.

He also advised the FBOs to obtain license/registration under FSS Act, failing which action under the Act will be initiated against the violators.
