Srinagar: As lightning struck the house of Abdul Rashid Sood, in the remote village of Jabri, Boniyar Tehsil, in the afternoon hours of 20 April, he rushed out, only to realize that his property and valuables were stuck inside the fire. The news of the fire was immediately circulated by Sarpanch to the Indian Army column deployed in Paro.
The Fearless Dagger Division Warriors at Paro Det, mobilized resources and rushed to the incident site, in torrential rain, after negotiating to overflow Nalas in the ongoing thunderstorms.
The soldiers on arriving, split into two teams, one to control the fire and the second one to extricate the valuables.
The prompt and courageous action by the soldiers saved valuable property and prevented the fire from ravaging other houses in the small village, thereby saving hundreds of lives and Lacs worth of property.
