Srinagar: Police have arrested four drug-peddlers in Baramulla and Kulgam and recovered contraband substances from their possession, officials said Sunday.

They said in Baramulla, a police party during checking near Govt Higher Secondary School Goshbugh Pattan intercepted one Parvaiz Ahmad Yatoo, son of Mohammad Ibrahim Yatoo of Sultanpora Pattan, and recovered 8 grams of brown sugar-like substance from his possession.

At Kachwa Muqam Chandoosa, one Amir Hussain Dar, son of Mohammad Sultan Dar of Wagoora was held with 50 grams of cannabis-like substance.

One Parvaiz Ahmad Lone, son of Abdul Rashid Lone of Ferozpora Tangmarg, was arrested during naka checking at Ferozpora Tangmarg and 30 grams of cannabis-like substance was recovered from his possession.

In Kulgam, a police party arrested one Jan Mohammad Sheikh, son of Mohammad Yousuf Sheikh of Raithan Budgam, presently Zadoora, Mirbazar, near Palpora Crossing and recovered 2.8 kgs of cannabis powder concealed in a bag from his possession.

Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations in all these instances and investigations initiated, police said.
