Srinagar: Police have arrested six drug-peddlers in Baramulla and Bandipora and recovered contraband substances from their possession, officials informed Saturday.
They said a police party arrested a drug peddler identified as Mohammad Owais Mughal, son of Mir Akbar Mughal of Bandi Uri and recovered 38 grams of brown sugar from his possession.
At Main Market Delina, police arrested two drug-peddlers — Muzamil Ahmad Ganie, son of Abdul Rashid of Kanlibagh, and Mehraj-ud¬Din Sheikh, son of Mohammad Sultan Sheikh of Sangri Colony Baramulla, and recovered 60 grams of cannabis from their possession.
At Stadium Colony Baramulla, police intercepted a car (JK05H-0916) driven by Mohammad Rafeeq Lone, son of Mohammad Yousuf Lone of Nadihal Baramulla, and recovered 101 bottles of Q-Qurex and Torvirex from it. While the driver of the car was arrested, the vehicle was also seized.
Police said Lone is the “most wanted drug smuggler of Baramulla area”.
Another drug-peddler — Aadil Naseer Dar, son of Naseer Ahmad Dar of Seer Jagir was arrested with 5 grams of brown sugar.
In Bandipora, at Najin Nowgam, police intercepted a vehicle (JK05A-0370) driven by Abdul Majeed Dar, son of Mohammad Qasim Dar of Nooripura Budgam, and recovered 7.1 Kgs of cannabis powder from Dar’s possession. He has been arrested and the vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.
Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and investigations have been initiated, police said.
