Vakil said that the shortage of drinking water, poor drainage facilities, and dilapidated roads in the area is a matter of grave concern.

“The residents have been victimized and ignored by successive governments, and their leaders only visit them during election time. The lack of basic facilities is a fundamental issue that needs to be addressed by the concerned authorities. The recent protest demonstration held by the residents highlights their legitimate grievances and demands that the government must address,” he added.

Vakil urged the LG administration and concerned authorities to take prompt action and address the genuine demands of the residents of Sopore town.

“If there was a people’s government, the concerns of the people would have been heard, and their issues would have been addressed promptly. The government must listen to the concerns of its citizens and ensure that basic facilities are provided to them and take necessary measures to improve their living conditions,” he concluded.
