Srinagar: Police have arrested four drug-peddlers in Budgam and recovered contraband substances from their possession, officials said Sunday.
A police party at a checkpoint established at Choon Crossing intercepted a vehicle (JK04H-1091) with two persons on board. During the search, 5.36 grams of heroin was recovered from their possession. They have been identified as Mehraj-ud-Din Mir, son of Mohammad Sultan Mir of Choon Budgam, and Shahbaaz Nisar, son of Nisar Ahmad Ahangar of Ichgam. They have been shifted to the police station where they remain in custody. Vehicle has also been seized, police said.
On their disclosure, two more accused — Javeed Ahmad Lone, son of Bashir Ahmad Lone of Eidgah Mohalla Humhama, and Raqeeb Ahmad Dar, son of Nazir Ahmad Dar of Gonikhan Srinagar, at present Gogo Humhama, were also arrested and 7.72 grams of heroin and cash of Rs 6400 recovered from their possession. They too have been shifted to the police station where they remain in custody.
Further investigation into the case is going on, police said.
