Besides Shaheen, the participants of the meeting included Provincial Vice President for the party’s Women Wing Sumaya Sadaf, District President Kupwara Firdousa Geelani, District President Ganderbal Rafiqa Iqbal, District President Pulwama Rukhsana ji, District President Budgam Shakeela Ji, District President Srinagar Iram Ji, District Vice President Srinagar Nighat Qayoom, District Secretary Srinagar Mumtaz Ji, Coordinator Rafiqa Ji, Provincial Secretary Afrooza Ji, Uzma Shaheen, and others.

The participants of the meeting had a thorough discussion over certain social issues including the growing drug menace in Kashmir and the incident of heinous crimes that occurred in the various areas of the Valley in the recent past, a press note said.

On this occasion, while expressing her deep concern over the growing social evils, Dilshada Shaheen said, “I feel saddened to see that many of our young boys and girls have fallen prey to the ongoing drug menace in the Valley. This is a matter of grave concern, and every responsible citizen must come forward to help out these victims.”

She further said, “Similarly, the recent crime incidents in which two women and a girl was killed have shaken all of us. Last month, we saw a heinous crime occurring in central Kashmir’s Budgam, wherein a murderer brutally killed a young woman and chopped her into multiple pieces. Now, in a recent incident, a 7-year-old girl was brutally killed, and her throat slit body thrown near her home in Kupwara. In another incident, a chronic drug addict killed his mother in Baramulla. These shocking incidents have sent shock waves in the entire society, and everyone is shocked over these occurrences.”

Sharing their perspective on these social issues, the participants emphasised that collective efforts are needed to curb the drug menace and the growing crime rate in society.

“Everybody in society ought to play his/her role to get the society out of this mess. Every individual has a responsibility to contribute towards finding a solution to these social issues. It would be insane to remain silent or apathetic about these issues,” the participants said.
