Srinagar: Police in Budgam have solved a case of theft by arresting four accused persons and recovered stolen property from their possession, officials informed Tuesday.

Acting on a complaint of theft at an Iron and Cement store at Batpora Kanihama, police after registering a case, zeroed in on one suspect identified as Muzzaffar Ahmad Khatana, son of Mohammad Rafiq Khatana of Peerah Ramban.

During sustained questioning, he disclosed that he along with 11 accomplices have stolen iron bars weighing around 93 quintals from Batpora crossing and have used five vehicles including four trucks and a car in the crime. He also disclosed that they have sold the stolen property to a scrap dealer at Batote Ramban.

Subsequently, the scrap dealer was arrested in the instant case and the stolen property (i.e.93 quintals of iron bars) was recovered.

So far four accused persons have been arrested while a truck (JK14B-1095) used in the theft has also been seized, police said.

It said the other arrested persons have been identified as Sadiq Hussain, son of Azeem Bakarwal; Mohammad Irfan Bokra, son of Abdul Aziz Bokra, both residents of Peerah Ramban; Mohammad Mughal Bokra, son of Abdul Rasheed Bokra of Samba Jammu. Efforts are on to nab the absconding accused persons, police said.
