Srinagar: Police in Shopian have solved a case of theft by arresting an accused person and recovering stolen property from his possession.

Acting on a complaint of theft of a mobile phone from a shop at Zainapora, police after registering a case zeroed in on one Rafee Ahmad Sheikh, son of Mohamad Ayoub of Zainapora, who during questioning confessed his involvement in the theft, police spokesman said.

On his disclosure, a stolen mobile phone and cash of ₹41000, which was illegally withdrawn by the said accused through MPay have also been recovered, police said.

Subsequently, the accused was arrested and shifted to the police station where he remains in custody.
