Soon a police party reached the spot and took the body into possession for legal formalities.

The deceased has been identified as Salman Irshad Wani (25), son of Irshad ahmad Wani, a resident of Rambagh.

A police official confirmed that a case has been registered in this regard for further investigation.

Meanwhile, the family members of the deceased have alleged that their son has been murdered in cold blood and appealed to police to investigate the matter thoroughly.

They said Salman had gone to Kerala with Tableeghi Jamaat last month and was about to reach home.

“I can’t believe that my son has died a natural death. He called me yesterday and said he is stuck in a traffic jam on Jammu-Srinagar highway due to rainfall and will reach home by evening. He has been murdered; I appeal to police to investigate the matter and bring culprits to book,” said the wailing mother of the deceased.

“We received his call yesterday and he said he is on the way and will reach home shortly. He was happy to spend the holy month of Ramzan with us,” his father added.

Wani said that their son “has been killed under a well thought-out conspiracy” and appealed to the police to investigate the case thoroughly to bring the facts to light.
