Director Horticulture led JIT inspects CA store, FPU at Zainakote, Konmoh

SRIN AGAR: The Director Horticulture Kashmir, G.R. MIR today led a Joint Inspection Team (JIT) to inspect 01CA Stores and 01 Food Processing unit at Zainakote and Konmoh areas of Srinagar.

On the occasion, the Director emphasized the Department’s unwavering commitment to strengthening the post-harvest infrastructure in the valley. He further added that the department is currently investigating every possible opportunity to develop infrastructure such as CA stores and processing units throughout the region, aiming to provide the farming community with outstanding services.

He urged entrepreneurs to step forward and invest in the establishment of CA Stores and other post-harvest units, thereby contributing to the creation of a robust post-harvest management chain.

The Director was accompanied by Chief Canning Instructor Srinagar, Chief Horticulture Officer Srinagar, Ex. Engineer Mechanical, Anantnag Ex. Engineer Horticulture Planning and Marketing, a representative from SKUAST-K among others.

Later, the Director made a visit to the Bandipora district, where he attended an awareness camp at the village Markunadal, Hajin.

The camp was attended by Chief Horticulture Officer Bandipora, other officers/officials of the Department besides, members of the PRIs, and a large number of farmers.

During the camp, attendees were provided with immediate information about the beneficiary-oriented and self-employment schemes offered by the Horticulture Department.

During his address, the Director of Horticulture stressed the need for field functionaries to maintain close contact with farmers, in order to help resolve any issues regarding orchard management.

Afterward, the Director paid a visit to the village Shilvat in Sumbal, where he launched a plantation drive under the Area Expansion Scheme (Medium-Density) of the department.
