Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board has announced a 30% hike to the remuneration of Imams, Khateebs, and Muazzins posted at Waqf-run shrines and mosques.

The decision was announced by Jammu & Kashmir Waqf Board Chairperson, Dr. Syed Darakhshan Andrabi during a meeting held with Imams and Khateebs at the Conference Hall of Waqf, Sonwar Srinagar.

A statement issued by the Waqf Board said that the Chairperson also announced that J&K Waqf Board shall be providing adequate accommodation facilities to the Imams &  Khateebs who are posted at places far off from their home and will be bearing the cost of electricity and water bills of their accommodations.

She also announced relief assistance up to Rs. One lakh in case of natural calamity leading to house damage, disease/accidents requiring hospitalization.

It was also decided that the provision of library facilities for Imams & Khateebs with religious literature shall be made available so that they shall not have to purchase it at their level.

It was also decided that they shall be entitled to remuneration during the leave period as well, said the spokesman.
