Director Fisheries, MD JKHPMC push for formulation of Fish FPOs

ANANTNAG: The Department of Fisheries in collaboration with NABARD and the Human Welfare Foundation organized an Awareness Camp for the formulation of the 2nd FPO in Anantnag District at the Trout Farming Project in Achabal.

A large gathering of fish farmers attended the one-day training camp, which was addressed by Director of Fisheries, Mohammad Farooq Dar; MD JKHPMC, Imad-Ud-Din; JD of Fisheries, South A.M. Tak; CPO of Kokernag Fisheries Project, Mohi-Ud-Din; DD of Fisheries Ang, Sideeq, Principal of Fisheries Training Institute Kokernag, and President of the Human Welfare Foundation.

The camp was a great success, providing valuable knowledge and insight to the fish farmers in attendance.

The farmers lauded the efforts being made by the Government. They said that FPOs will increase their bargaining power in the market and reduce the vulnerability of individual farmers.

Further, they said the FPO will help them to concentrate on processing and marketing their produce in a joint manner which will help them fetch better prices.
