HAS in collaboration with KDF-UK sets up skill center in Sujwan Jammu

Ratti Sarari (Jammu): In a bid to provide tailoring and fashion design skills to poor and underprivileged girls under Vocational Training and Enterprise Development Scheme (VTEDS), Human Aid Society (HAS) – a north Kashmir-based social organization – established another cutting and tailoring center for poor and needy girls of far off village Ritti Sarari of Sujwan Jammu.

VTEDS centre was inaugurated by chief guest Deputy Commissioner Incometax Jammu Shakeel Ahmed (IRS) who was flanked by fromer Deputy Director Health and Chairman SMC Bedrwah Dr. Shahid Mogal, President Janbaz Academy Baramulla Abdul Majeed Akhoon, renowned businessman and social activist Hafeez Bashir.

 Deputy commissioner Incometax Jammu Shakeel Ahmed while addressing the gathering hailed the efforts of the Human Aid Society besides ensuring all kinds of help for students who want to pursue higher education and competitive exams.

“I personally assure you to provide every kind of help regarding education and competitive exams for which I will mobilize my all contact because this far-off village needs attention,” he added.

Fromer Deputy Director Health and Chairman SMC Bedrwah Dr. Shahid Mogal regretted that this village has remained without any health facility so far but he assured to take up the matter with higher-ups for providing a health center in the village.

“This village indeed needs the attention of government and I appreciate the role of Human Aid Society for reaching out to the people of such a far-flung and needy village which has remained unattended,” he added.

“This skill center is a step to empower our daughters and women and boost their self-confidence that they too can stand on their legs and learn to empower other fellow girls with their skills. This initiative became possible with the support of KDF-UK,” said the Chairman Human Aid Society Kashmir, Bashir Ahmad Mir.

He added that HAS will also felicitate paramedic training of two youths- a male and a female – so that they serve the patients of their own village as there is no person available to take care of basic health problems and issues.

Earlier, Secretary Human Aid Society Reyaz Ahmad Ganai said that Human Aid Society identified the village in which most of the girl students turn school dropouts because of the non-availability of schools for secondary and higher secondary education, the VTEDS centre will train the girls and women of the village to make them self-reliant.

He appreciated the youth and respectable of the village who joined HAS’s mission to support its vision as volunteers under the leadership of Mushtaq Ahmad Khatana of village Riti Sarari who is acting as volunteers head of Jammu province.

He also highlighted the achievement of the organization under the VTCRS program and stated that HAS has honour of training hundreds of orphans and poor women including girls in varied skills besides providing them support for rehabilitation.

On this occasion, Human Aid Society distributed cash and food kits among the needy and poor families.

Earlier, a free medical camp in collaboration with the Ayush Department Jammu was organized in the Birmini village in which patients were provided free medicines and awareness regards health.
