Briefing DC & SSP Traffic on traffic jams on Nashri-Chanderkote stretch, the PD NHAI said one of the two critical stretches has been restored for two-way traffic while work is on to make the second stretch at Dhalwas double carriageway soon.

“To resolve the chronic issue of sinking at Dhalwas permanently, NHAI is in the process of constructing twin-tube bridges as a longtime measure,” he added.

The Deputy Commissioner advised PD NHAI to expedite the pace of work to develop a double carriageway for hassle-free movement of vehicles between Nashri&Ramban. He also directed NHAI to make this stretch four-laned, which shall also involve making the critical Kunfer tunnel between Peerah and Chanderkote functional.

The NHAI was also advised to immediately blacktop LMV holding area at Peerah to cater to emergencies and road blockades in times of rains and slides.

The Deputy Commissioner reiterated the direction of Chief Secretary, J&K, to start blacktopping work on recently taken over Ramban Old Alignment Road from Jaiswal Bridge to Maitra Trijunction, which shall provide critical alternate connectivity to NH-44 bound traffic.
