SIU conducts searchs in Pulwama in IED recovery case

Srinagar, Feb 20: The Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of police raided and carried out searches at two places in Tral area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district, officials said on Monday.

In a press release, police said that “continuing its crackdown on terror elements, the SIU Awantipora conducted raids at two different locations in connection with case FIR No. 37/2022 of Police Station Tral.”

It said the searched locations are residential houses of two suspects — Jamsheed Ahmad Bhat, son of Mohammad Ashraf Bhat of Satoora Tral, and Sameer Ahmad Mohand. son of Ghulam Mohammad Mohand, resident of Shairabad Tral.

“During the search, proper SOPs were followed and relevant information was gathered, incriminating material was recovered by the SIU Awantipora,” the press release said.

It said searches were conducted “to collect more evidence of their involvement in other terror crimes”.

Searches, the release said are “aimed to eliminate the terror ecosystem in the police district by identifying various terror associates and supporters of terrorism. These raids will continue in future also for the logical conclusion of all UAPA cases.”
