Srinagar: Police on Thursday said they have arrested four drug peddlers in Kulgam and Baramulla and recovered contraband substances from their possession.

A police party in Qazigund, intercepted two suspected persons — Maqsood Ahmad Naikoo, son of Sanaullah Naikoo of Nussu Qazigund and Fayaz Ahmad Dar, son of Mohdamma Shafi Dar of Tachloo Qaimoh — at a checkpoint at Dalwach Crossing. During checking, 220 grams of cannabis and three grams of heroin were recovered from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to the police station, police said.

In Baramulla, a police party arrested a drug peddler — Abdul Rehman Dar, son of Late Lassa Dar, resident of Nadirgund Khaipora Tangmarg — at a checkpoint established at Khaipora Crossing. During checking, 180 grams of cannabis was recovered from his possession.

Another drug-peddler identified as Manzoor Ahmad Ganie, son of Ghulam Mohammad of Sozeth Lawaypora was nabbed at Mirgund with 120 grams of cannabis, police said.

It said cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in respective police stations and investigations have been initiated.
