Srinagar: Dr. Shiben Krishen Raina, famous writer, educationist, and translator, is coming up with a Hindi translation of the Kashmiri Ramayanas ‘Ramavataracharit’.
Around seven Ramayanas are available and among the available Ramayanas written in Kashmiri ‘Ramavataracharit’ has a special place in Kashmiri literature and stands out for its popularity.
The story of lord Rama with profound devotion has been sung in this godly book. Written in 1847, the author of ‘Ramavataracharit’ is Pandit Prakashram, a resident of Kurigam, district Kulgam, Kashmir.
Winner of several academic awards and distinctions, Dr.Raina has around one hundred papers and fourteen books to his credit.
His books have been published by publishers like Bhartiya Jnanpith, Rajpal & Sons, Hindi Book Centre, Sahitya Academi, Delhi, J&K Cultural Academy, etc.
He is associated with a number of literary and cultural bodies in the country.
