Exhibition cum sale of Indian Handicrafts begins at Jammu Haat

JAMMU: Chairman, Wool and Woollens Export Promotion Council, Union Ministry of Textiles, Ramesh Khajuria, inaugurated the exhibition cum sale of exquisite Indian Handicrafts at Jammu Haat.

The exhibition is being organized by Rural Artisans Welfare Society and sponsored by the office of the Development Commissioner for Handicrafts, Union Ministry of Textiles.

The objective of organising such events is to provide a marketing platform for the artisans to sell and promotion of their products besides having direct interaction with the ultimate customers to understand their choices and requirements.

Nearly, fifty artisans from different states of the country are participating in this exhibition with their products like terracotta products, carpets, pottery, jewellery, Kashmiri embroidered shawls, suits, pherans, gift items, cane bamboo products and a variety of other handicraft products.

In his address to the Handicraft artisans, Ramesh Khajuria appreciated the Rural Artisan Welfare Society for organising such magnificent exhibitions. He said that there are number of welfare schemes for artisans and weavers being implemented by the Union Textiles Ministry and the concerned agencies must endeavour hard to ensure their implementation on the ground level

Ramesh Khajuria said that the Textiles Ministry is committed towards the welfare of poor artisans and weavers. He emphasized the need to organise more and more such exhibitions to provide direct benefit to the artisans.

The officials of Development Commissioner Handicraft were also present on the occasion.
