Orientation, training prog under APEX Projects commences at Directorate of Horti Sgr

SRINAGAR: A district-level orientation cum training programme under Holistic Development of Agriculture started today for district Srinagar at the Directorate of Horticulture, Rajbagh Srinagar.

The inaugural session was attended by Director Extension SKUAST- Kashmir, Prof. Dil Mohammad Makhdoomi, Director Horticulture Kashmir G. R. Mir, and Director Agriculture Kashmir, M Iqbal Chouadry.

Sr. Scientist & Head Dr. Sajad Mouhideen, Chief Horticulture Officer Srinagar V.K. Gupta, resource persons Dr. Reis Ahmad Wani from KVK Srinagar Mohammad Amin Bhat DLSMS from Directorate of Horticulture Kashmir and Saima Hameed DLSMS, KVK Scientists, HDOs along with Horticulture technicians of Srinagar participated in the event.

Director Extension SKUAST-Kashmir presented words of wisdom wherein he stressed for the adoption of a holistic approach in order to achieve the main goal of this project.

Earlier, Director Horticulture after welcoming the guests and trainees presented the overall review of programmes with special reference on today’s training program entitled “Designer Plants for Promotion of High-Density Plantation and Rejuvenation of Orchards”.

In his speech, he said that the project will be a game changer in the overall development of the Horticulture sector in Jammu and Kashmir. He further added that the project has been designed in consonance with the available resources, opportunities, technological interventions, and desirable targets.

He stressed upon the trainees to work with full zeal and dedication for the achievement of results in implementing the targets on the ground.

Director Agriculture also presented his remarks about this Apex Project and highlighted its importance in uplifting the socio-economic status of the farming community in UT of Jammu & Kashmir.

Later, the resource persons made the presentation and threadbare deliberations were held during the training session and all the doubts of the trainees were addressed on spot.
