SARAS Fair provides platform to rural women to showcase, sell their products: Indu Chib

JAMMU: The upcoming SARAS AJEEVIKA Fair will provide a platform for women Self Help Groups (SHGs) from rural areas of India to showcase and subsequently sell their products.

This was stated by Mission Director J&K Rural Livelihoods Mission (JKRLM), Indu Kanwal Chib while interacting with Media at aquaplex crown Bagh- e -Bahu, Jammu.

Aquaplex Crown Bagh-e-Bahu is the venue of the SARAS Mela, She said and briefed the media about the highlights of the fair to be held from February 4 to 14 2023 here.

She said that income generated by rural women through such platforms empowers them socially and economically.

MD, who was also flanked by Additional Mission Director JKRLM, Mridhu Slathia, reiterated that in addition to income generation, JKRLM is also working on the holistic development of rural women through various programmes being run by it.

The MD further said the fair is going to witness the participation of women Self Help Groups from across the country and all 20 districts of the Union Territory of J&K will take part in this Fair.

While detailing the main attractions of the event to be hosted in Jammu for the first time, Indu Chib said this national-level fair will exhibit unique and famous indigenous products from various states and UTs of the country.

Besides, she added that Mela will provide a platform for the participants to sell and promote their self-made products.

During the interaction, the MD informed that the annual SARAS fair will be held in Jammu in which over 75 stalls and food courts will be set up at the exhibition site, aquaplex crown, near Bagh e Bahu, Jammu.

She informed that the 11-day fair is expected to witness the participation of Self Help Group women from 25 states and UTs from across the country to sell their self-made products and added that inventorying of items has been started at the venue.
