Srinagar: Police on Monday said it has arrested four associates of Lashkar-i-Toiba outfit and destroyed a hideout in south Kashmir’s Awantipora.

On a specific input, police along with Army (42RR) and CRPF 180 Bn launched a cordon and search operation at Hafoo Nigeenpora forests. “During the search, a hideout used by terrorists was busted and subsequently destroyed. Incriminating materials and other items were recovered from the hideout,” police spokesman said in a statement, adding that a case (FIR No. 10/2023) under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Tral in this regard.

“During the preliminary investigation, so far four terrorist associates linked with proscribed terror outfit LeT have been arrested,” spokesman said.

He identified the arrested persons as Arif Bashir Bhat, son of Bashir Ahmad Bhat; Mohsin Ahmad Lone, son of Assadullah Lone; Manzoor Ahmad Wani, son of Ghulam Mohiudin Wani, and Irshad Ahmad Ahangar, son of Abdul Gaffar Ahangar, all residents of Reshipora. 

“They were involved in providing logistic support to active terrorists of LeT in the area. Investigation of the case is going on and more arrests are expected,” police said.
