JIT headed by Dir Horti inspects M/S Jasmine Agro Processing Industries Khanmoh

SRINAGAR: A Joint Inspection Team (JIT) headed by the Director Horticulture Kashmir, G. R. Mir today visited Khanmoh, Srinagar, and inspected visited M/S Jasmine Agro Processing Industries and reviewed its functioning.

This was the first visit of JIT to the said Processing Unit after the project was approved by the State Level Executive Committee (SLEC) for the Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH).

The said unit has been established at a project cost of Rupees 74 lacs to add value to the fruit crop in order to enable the growers to get a better price for their produce.

Speaking on the occasion, the Director Horticulture said that the establishment of such units will create greater employment opportunities for the educated youth of the valley. He enjoined upon the entrepreneurs to come forward and set up such units for which the Department will provide every possible help.

He was accompanied by the Joint Director Horticulture Kashmir, Chief Canning Instructor, Kashmir, Chief Horticulture Officer, Srinagar, and other members of the JIT.

Later, the Director Horticulture visited the Centre of Excellence (CoE) Zawoora, Srinagar.

Speaking on the occasion he highlighted the importance of the institution in increasing the production and productivity of various fruit crops and boosting the economic strength of the farming community. He said this will also help the transfer of the latest technology to the farmers’ fields.

Mir further impressed upon the officers posted at the Centre to complete the time-bound operations within the stipulated time.
