Director Agriculture said that beekeeping, on one hand, can play a significant role in crop production and productivity, and on the other hand if explored on commercial lines this venture could play an important role in the socio-economic transformation of concerned farmers.

He said that the department has already taken some initiative for the promotion of beekeeping in the region and now under the holistic development of agriculture and allied sectors a multi-pronged approach has been adopted for the promotion of beekeeping in the UT of J&K.

Director Agriculture asked the participants of the training programme (officers of agriculture and allied departments) to work in coordination for successful implementation of the projects under a holistic document.

He underlined the importance of raising awareness among the farmers of the region so that the desired results could be achieved.
