Dulloo reviews progress on Cluster Development Programme

JAMMU: Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) Agriculture Production Department, Atal Dulloo, today reviewed the functioning of the Animal, Sheep Husbandry & Fisheries Department and deliverables under major schemes in the sector.

Mission Director Dairy Development, Secretary in APD, Director General (Planning) APD, Director General Sheep Husbandry Kashmir, Director Animal Husbandry Jammu/Kashmir, Director Sheep Husbandry Jammu, Director Fisheries J&K, Director Finance Animal/Sheep Husbandry & Fisheries, APD, CEO Livestock Development Board Jammu/Kashmir and other concerned attended the meeting.

Kashmir-based officers attended the meeting via video conferencing.

The meeting had a detailed review of the CAPEX budget, funds released, expenditures incurred under centrally sponsored schemes for 2022-23, and deliverables of the Animal/Sheep Husbandry and Fisheries Departments.

Besides, Cattle Feed Production Scheme, Integrated Poultry Development Scheme, Fodder Development Scheme, Integrated Poultry Development Scheme, Aquaculture Development Schemes, and other related schemes were also assessed during the meeting.

At the outset, Directors Animal Husbandry Jammu/Kashmir gave detailed presentations on the targets and achievements of their respective Directorates including several sectors including dairy, poultry, set targets and achievements, and Centrally Sponsored Schemes pertaining to the Department.

While reviewing the performance of the Animal Husbandry Department, the ACS asked the respective directors to set priorities so that projects would be taken up as per Apex Committee led by Dr Mangla Rai.

With regard to Artificial Insemination (AI), Dulloo asked the concerned officers to involve SKUAST-Jammu/Kashmir in order to train additional 800 MAITRIs in AI. Besides, he directed the officers to allocate Liquid Nitrogen Plants in the shortest possible time so that work would be started on the projects at the earliest.

He asked Director Animal Husbandry Jammu to organize Mandies as these fares help local farmers to buy premium quality cattle in the UT from sellers of neighbouring states.

While discussing the insurance and vaccination of livestock, Dulloo asked the concerned to ensure maximum coverage of livestock under insurance cover and vaccination of livestock.

Also, the ACS also held a detailed review of the Livestock Development Board Jammu/Kashmir and JK Milk Producers Cooperative Limited wherein targets and achievements were discussed in detail.

The concerned heads of the boards and JKMPCL informed the meeting about the financial and deliverables of their respective organizations during the year 2022-23.
