Dr Samoon lays foundation stone of workshop block at ITI Zainakote

SRINAGAR: Principal Secretary Skill Development Department, Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon, today laid the foundation stone for the construction of a two-storeyed workshop block and the development of a parking area and play field at I.T.I Zainakot.

Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Director Skill Development Department, Principal ITI Zainakote, Principals of other skill institutes, officers from R&B, and others were present on the occasion.

The cost of the project is 242.25 lacs and is expected to be completed by December 2024.

Principal Secretary emphasised upon the concerned agency to work in tandem so that the project is completed well within the timeline.

Dr Samoon said that the government is fully committed to enhancing the skill set of students and all efforts are being made in this regard.

He said that there is no lack of opportunities in life, but we need to develop an understanding of how to use these opportunities for success.

Dr Samoon directed the concerned officers to increase the intake capacity of the students at ITI Zainakote with a corresponding increase in the number of trades. He said that relevant trades should be introduced in the ITIs keeping in mind the requirements of the industrial needs.

He also directed the concerned authorities to maintain fencing of the land at the campus so as to prevent any encroachment.

Principal Secretary also inspected other works at the campus which include leveling and landscaping of ground, and laying and fitting of the pipe network.

Later, Principal Secretary also interacted with the faculty and impressed upon them to impart quality training to the students.

Director Skill Development Department also spoke on the occasion and said that the department is taking every step in developing the skilling ecosystem in Jammu and Kashmir for the benefit of the student community.
