While addressing a huge gathering of farmers, the Director reiterated the commitment to work for the socio-economic transformation of the farming community of the region.

Director Agriculture said that the UT government has approved 29 projects under holistic development of agriculture and allied sectors and added that implementation of these projects would not only energize the agriculture sector but will also change the economic fortune of the farming community of the region.

Chowdhury impressed upon the officers to raise awareness regarding these approved projects among the farming community so that the desired results and targets could be achieved in an effective and time-bound manner.

He asked the officers to ensure that the benefit of these projects reaches every grassroots-level farmer. Besides, he asked the officers to put in all the efforts and work in coordination with the officers of allied sectors to address the issues related to primary as well as secondary agriculture.

A detailed discussion was also held on issues raised by the farmers and PRI representatives of the area.

On the occasion, the Director issued on-the-spot instructions to the concerned officers for the redressal of various issues and assured farmers that their grievances would be addressed on a priority basis.

He asked the officers to reach out to the farmers of far-flung areas and make them aware of the latest farmer-centric technologies in the agriculture sector.

He asked the officers to work in collaboration with the representatives of Panchayat Raj institutions for the successful implementation of different schemes at the grassroots level.

Later, Director Agriculture visited the Departmental vegetable farm Kahipora Zachaldara and interacted with the technical experts, and took stock of various activities.
