Srinagar: The residents of Qazipora, Sawan, Kampora, Ferozpora, Mahyan, Chandilora, Warpora, and other adjoining areas of Tangmarg Wednesday expressed anguish against the Power Development Department (PDD) for failing to stick to the curtailment schedule.

The aggrieved residents told Kashmir Images that they are facing prolonged power cuts in this bone-chilling cold. “We do not receive proper power supply as per the schedule and frequent power cuts have become a daily affair,” they said.

The officials of the Power Development Department in turn blamed people for “power theft”. “The people are bypassing the electric meters and indulging in the illegal use of electricity,” they said.

However, the people while rejecting the claims of the PDD officials said that they are experiencing worst power outages for 12 hours or more. “How come the officials expect that the electric meters will show readings when we are experiencing severe electricity outages,” they said.

They appealed Lt. Governor, Manoj Sinha, and his administration to supply uninterrupted power to the inhabitants.
