4 drug-peddlers booked under PSA in Awantipora

Srinagar: Police on Monday said it has booked four notorious drug peddlers under PIT NDPS Act in Awantipora, and arrested a drug-peddler along with huge quantity of contraband substance in Budgam.

In Awantipora, four notorious drug-peddlers identified as Bakhtawar Ahmad Makroo, son of Late Abdul Rahim Makroo of Gulzapora Batpora; Manzoor Ahmad Bhat, son of Late Abdul Ahad Bhat; Abdul Qayoom Bhat, son of Late Abdul Khaliq Bhat, both residents of Larkipora Padgampora, and Tariq Ahmad Mir, son of Late Abdul Gani Mir, son-in-law of Mohammad Ahsan Mir, resident of Kawani Awantipora, were booked under PIT NDPS Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority, police spokesman said.

He said these drug-peddlers were involved in NDPS cases registered in various police stations and were promoting drug abuse by supplying drugs to local youth.

Meanwhile in Budgam, a police party during area domination patrol at Waragam Beerwah, intercepted a suspicious person — Tariq Ahmad Malik, son of Ali Mohammad Malik, resident of Waragam Beerwah –and recovered 39 Charas (cannabis) sticks weighing 1.045 kgs from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to a police station where he remains in custody.
