The Director stressed for judicious utilization of funds in a time-bound manner to improve the expenditure. He said the funds earmarked for different components under various centrally sponsored schemes must be fully utilized for the development of the farming sector in the region.

He asked the officers to expend at least 25% of funds in each quarter and directed them to submit weekly reports on the expenditure made by them and hold meetings to review the same.

Chowdhary impressed upon the officers to organise awareness programmes for educated youth so that their attention is attracted towards agriculture activities like mushroom cultivation, apiculture, etc.

He said that every effort should be ensured to improve the socio-economic condition of farmers and to increase the income of farm-operating families. He asked the officers to work in coordination at different levels of administration so that the farmers’ interests could be safeguarded.

Joint Directors, Chief Agriculture Officer Srinagar, nodal officers of different flagship programmes, District, Sub-division and Zonal level Officers attended the meeting.
